Jane Austen’s Persuasion is told from the hero’s point-of-view in the trilogy, Frederick Captain, Captain. The first of the novels is None But You which covers Book l of Persuasion. The story begins when the Captain arrives to visit his sister and her husband who now live at Kellynch Hall, the home of Sir Walter Elliot. The baronet has exhausted his finances and now must economize by leasing the family estate. This is not Wentworth’s first visit to the area or Kellynch Hall. Eight years before he came one summer to the area, met and fell in love with the baronet’s daughter, Anne Elliot. The romance was ended by her family and he left the area hurt and angry.

When he returns, he is rich and very eligible. All the things he was not in the past. As he settles into the neighborhood, he is swept into the center of the large and gregarious Musgrove family. Anne is related by marriage to them, and this puts the two in company often.
